We recently shared details on Capita’s new gas safety accreditation scheme which promised to provide a benchmark of best practice within the industry.
However, following heavy opposition and criticism from gas engineers Capita have now made a u-turn and withdrawn the scheme based on feedback and a widespread outcry across social media.
An email was recently sent by Capita informing installers of the withdrawal:
“Thank you for your feedback. It has been helpful in testing the potential development of a consultancy service for the utility market, accredited by UKAS, within Capita’s Health & Safety consultancy. At this stage we are withdrawing this service”.
There’s no doubt gas engineers across the UK will be very pleased to hear of the withdrawal.
