What’s on a Gas Safety Record?

You might have seen our recent post explaining who needs a Gas Safety record. Well, todays post looks into what information you need to look out for on a Gas Safety record as there are certain pieces of information that you must ensure are on your record.

A Gas Safety record is issued following an inspection by a Gas Safe registered engineer.  You must always ensure only Gas Safe registered engineers carry out your Gas Safety inspections.  You can visit the Gas Safe website to search for a registered engineer in your area : www.gassaferegister.co.uk

The Gas Safe website explains the minimum information a record must contain :

  • Description and location of each appliance and/or flue checked
  • Name, Gas Safe registration number and signature of the engineer who carried out the check
  • Date on which the appliance and/or flue was checked
  • The address of the property at which the appliance and/or flue is installed
  • The name and address of the landlord (or agent where appropriate)
  • Any defect identified and any action required or taken to fix it
  • Confirmation of the results of operational safety checks carried out on the appliances.
